Good Friday Worship 7pm

The final week of lent is often called Holy Week..  This final Sunday in lent is called  Palm Sunday which commemorates the formal entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem as he was welcomed by crowds waving palm branches.  By the following Thursday Jesus was betrayed and taken captive while in the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives outside of Jerusalem.  During the night Jesus was taken to the Jewish ruling council and condemned for admitting to them that he was the messiah.  Since the Jews were under Roman control they had to go to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, to get the death penalty for Jesus.  Although Pilate did not believe Jesus to be guilty of any crime worthy of death, he was pressured by the Jews and he fiinally gave in and gave the command for the crucifixion of Jesus.  Jesus was crucified at 9 in the morning.  Before dusk Jesus had already died and his body was taken down and put in a tomb.  The Christian church remembers this crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday.  This horrible punishment on Jesus can be called good because Jesus was paying the penalty of our sins, suffering the agony of hell.  He did this that we could be spared and allowed to spend eternity in heaven.  For the human race,  Good Friday was indeed a good day.  Holy Week culminates in Easter, the day of resurrection.  Jesus rose again to life on the Sunday following his death - the third day as Jews reckoned time.  Easter is the proof that sin has been conquered and Jesus has set us free so that we too may rise to life again when we die.

Faith of Hillman will be having a special Good Friday service at 7 pm.  Come and remember the price that was paid for your sins.

Easter Worship will be at 7 am rather than our normal 11 am time.  A breakfast will follow this service.

Join us for this great day of celebration of Christ's victory over hell and death.

(Note that Trinity of Rogers City will be having a Good Friday service at 2 pm.  Faith of East Jordan will be having a Maundy Thursday service beginning at 6 pm.)
