Japan in Crisis

The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has left that country in great turmoil.  The death toll is high and the destruction is great.  However, one of the greatest tragedies in conjunction with the disaster is not being reported by the major media.  The much greater problem is the reality that only about 1 % of the people of Japan are Christians.   This means that for every 10 people that have died in the events of late, 9 of them died as unbelievers.

This sad fact is a reminder of what the Bible tells us in Matthew 7:13–1413“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

The message of Christ is what Japan needs most at this time.  Let us pray for both the physical needs of this hurting nation and more imporantly for the spiritual needs of this people still living in darkness.

Use this prayer if you would like:  Dear Father, Son and Holy Spirit, May you gospel find its way into the minds and hearts of the people of Japan.  Let your Holy Spirit bring them faith and hope in this Holy Word.  Let the promise of the resurrection enable the people of Japan to endure the most difficult of problems and even death itself knowing that you have conquered death through the cross.  Amen.
